Privacy policy

We keep the data trail short. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Peak Play Co. is a family- and veteran-owned yard game rental company based in Commerce City, Colorado. Throughout this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to Peak Play Co.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to actually run your booking:

  • Contact information you give us at checkout: name, email, phone number.
  • Event & address details: the address you provide at checkout (used for sales tax calculation and, if you've arranged delivery, drop-off), plus any event notes you share with us.
  • Payment information: processed entirely through Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number — Stripe stores a securely-tokenized version on our behalf so we can charge replacement fees if equipment is damaged or not returned (per our booking policies).
  • Booking history: the games you've rented, dates, totals, and any communication we've had with you.

The site uses your browser's localStorage to remember the cart you're building before checkout — this stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

Google Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which games are popular and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects: a randomized identifier, pages you view, device type, browser, operating system, approximate geographic location (city/region only — never a precise address), referring website, and time spent on each page. Your IP address is automatically anonymized by Google before it's stored. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing, or to build profiles about you. You can opt out at any time by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by enabling "Do Not Track" / blocking third-party cookies in your browser.

Aside from Google Analytics and Stripe (for payments), we do not use third-party advertising networks or tracking pixels.

How we use it

Your data is used strictly for:

  • Confirming and managing your booking.
  • Adding your event to our booking calendar via Google Calendar.
  • Sending you receipts, scheduling messages, and follow-ups about your rental.
  • Charging your card for the booking and, if applicable, replacement fees per our booking policies.
  • Responding to questions and providing support.
  • Meeting our legal and tax obligations (e.g., sales tax filings).

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum information needed with these service providers, each of whom is contractually required to keep your data secure:

  • Stripe — for payment processing, fraud prevention, and tax calculation. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Google (Calendar API) — for managing our booking calendar. Your booking name and event details are added to our internal calendar. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Google (Analytics) — for understanding aggregate site traffic and visitor behavior. Google Analytics receives anonymized visit data (no name, email, or payment details). See Google's privacy policy.
  • Resend — for sending you booking confirmation emails and rental reminders. They receive your email address and the contents of the messages we send. See Resend's privacy policy.
  • Netlify — our website host. Standard request logs may include your IP address, which is retained briefly and used only for security.

We may also share information when legally required (subpoena, court order) or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

How long we keep it

We keep your booking and contact information as long as needed to provide service and to meet our tax, accounting, and legal recordkeeping obligations (typically 7 years for tax purposes). After that, we delete or anonymize records on a routine schedule. You can request earlier deletion — see "Your rights" below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (California, Colorado, Virginia, and several other states have specific consumer privacy laws), you have one or more of the following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Access a copy of what we have on file about you.
  • Correct any inaccurate information.
  • Delete your data (subject to legal recordkeeping requirements — e.g., we may need to keep transaction records for tax filings).
  • Opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (note: we don't sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of).
  • Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email peakplaycolorado@gmail.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We'll respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity (typically by confirming details only you would know about your booking) before processing the request.

Children

Our games are family friendly, but our website and booking process are designed for adults age 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we've inadvertently collected information from a child, please email us and we'll delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including TLS encryption for the website, Stripe's PCI-compliant payment processing, and limited internal access to booking data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe.

Cross-border transfers

Our service providers (Stripe, Google, Netlify) are US-based and may process limited data on servers in other countries. If you're outside the United States, by using our site you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. If we make material changes (like collecting new categories of data), we'll do our best to notify you directly via the email on file before they take effect.
